Character Information~
[ Series ] – Devil May Cry
[ Character’s Name ] – Vergil Sparda
[ Character’s Element ] – Darkness, Wind
[ Teacher or Student? ] – Student, 17; House of Shiva, First Year
[ Character Profile ] – Vergil is the twin brother of Dante Sparda (Tony Redgrave) the elder of the two. He is currently attending Dusk as a means of furthering his education and making use of his special abilities. Though normally he would avoid an environment with this many people, he is here as a means to shun his adoptive family.
[ Appearance ] – Vergil is a blue-eyed, silver-haired devil with a somewhat pale complexion, especially if compared to his brother’s. His hair is typically spiked back neatly so that it stays out of his eyes, save for a strand or two that escapes the confines of the styling gel. When wet however, it has been proven that, if left alone, Vergil’s hair reaches to his collar in an almost mop-like style that is no different than that sported by his twin.
His clothing style of choice is classically stylish, if perhaps a bit outdated. Wearing a coat which, we surmise, is comprised primarily of azure silk, as well as a ribbed vest, leather pants, brown, leather, knee-high boots, his katana at his side, and a silken cravat to top it all off his usual garb, the elder of the Sparda twins usually makes for a striking figure
[ Personality ] – Vergil is the cold, calm one of the Sparda twins, being a perfect opposite to his brother’s hot-headed, impulsive personality, Vergil is instead given to calculated action, and tends to look before he leaps. A plotter and a schemer, he can see the tactical advantages in a situation and then make his move.
Though he and Dante share the mindset that they don’t really care what others think of them, Vergil only behaves in such a manner because of the general contempt in which he holds the human race, and even his own blood, which he has sometimes considered tainted.
Vergil likes to be in control of the situation, being something of a power-monger, this lusting for power of any kind has often gotten him into more trouble than he bargained for, and oft set him at odds with Dante, the only other person that he has left that he truly seems to view at any point in time with any sort of tender emotion.
However, he does have his little oddities…being a fan of good wine, classic literature, and lavish furnishings in the most traditional of styles, Vergil is a young man of class and sophistication, with a broad vocabulary and a certain disdain for uncouth speech, such as his brother oft employs.
Oft selfish, Vergil is a very anti-social person as well, disliking the company of most others that Dante seems to thrive on, and in fact, Vergil would be pleased as punch if Dante was the only one that he ever spent time with.
There is also a deep self-loathing streak, one created by the events that have taken place in the not so recent past. Perhaps Vergil is truly repentant for his misdeeds…then again, perhaps not.
[ History ] – (( Pieces snitched with permission from Dante’s history, as the muns collaborated on it. xD; ))
Have you heard it ...? The legend of Sparda..?
Dante and his twin brother Vergil are the sons of Sparda, a demon who led certain forces of hell against all the rest of the demons to protect the human world. After this, he left the demon world and lived in our world for quite some time, ruling over it quietly and taking on a more mortal lifespan. Sometime toward the end of this lifespan, he took a human wife named Eva. Dante and Vergil are the sons of Sparda and Eva ... inheriting human emotions from their mother and demonic power from their father.
Of the twins, Dante was the more human of the two, his mother's favorite when they were children. As young children, both boys learned Latin, though Dante didn't like it and so has forgotten most of what he learned by this point. When the twins were thirteen, they were each given a sword on their birthday - Dante was given Rebellion while Vergil was given Yamato. At this point, their father began training them in the use of these weapons. He also taught them both hand-to-hand fighting and taught Dante how to shoot, though Vergil disdained firearms. The twins were also each given half of an amulet Sparda had given to his wife Eva as a wedding gift. When combined, this amulet formed the key to the Gate to Hell, which Sparda had locked when he came into the human world.
Things went along fairly peacefully (aside from predictable bouts of sibling rivalry) until the twins were about thirteen-fourteen. At this point, both had begun to realize they liked the other ... in ways that brothers usually aren't supposed to like each other. Dante didn't think that his brother would return his feelings, however, so he sought companionship in just about any other way possible. Lying about his age and getting hold of several fake ID's, he went to clubs and bars and went home with several other men - most older than he was. Nearly every time this happened, Vergil had to go and drag him home the morning after.
Finally, Vergil had had enough of it and let his twin know exactly how he felt about him. This resulted in the two sleeping together a single night. Dante then ended up going to a party the very next night - because he had promised some other friends he would go. While there, he sort of accidentally got drunk and went home with another guy again. Hurt and feeling betrayed, Vergil had to go and retrieve his twin yet again.
This time, when they got close to home, though, the twins realized something was very, very wrong. A group of demons to had entered the human world and come after their father Sparda - weakened by his long stay in the human world. They took out the Dark Knight first and then went after Eva - and the twins, once the two of them arrived. At first, the twins tried to fight, but they were no match for the demons - especially the leaders of the group, named Amashen and Tiis. Eva urged the twins to run, to hide, even as she tried to hold off the demons using Sparda's guns, Luce and Ombra. This bought the twins time and Dante did run, though Vergil tried to stay and help.
Vergil was cut down by the demons and thought dead…by everyone…only to reawaken in the graveyard, and he wandered for some time, in a state of shock. He was eventually placed in a home temporarily, and was summarily adopted by a couple who was looking for an heir.
Hating his new ‘parents’, he refused to take their name and continued his cold, unfeeling demeanor. When the letter came from the school, Vergil leapt at the chance to leave.
[ Pets ] – None as of yet.
[ Other ? ] – Yamato, an O-Katana (a katana slightly longer than the norm and usually created for people of some precedence) handed down to him by the twins’ father, and one of Vergil’s prized possessions. The hilt is bound in blue fabric, and the hilt itself is trimmed in gold, also accenting it is a pair of tassels, which have been termed ‘gay’ (mostly by Dante).
